Creating A Line: The Wild Wild Midwest

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy at home! I mean you’ve must have hit your boredom streak if you are reading ouR blog posts! JUST KIDDING!

Today I wanted to share with you the creative process of how we created our most recent collection: The Wild Wild Midwest. It includes three t-shirt designs that will give you all the western vibes but still reminding you of where your from, hence the name.

Step 1: Create a mood board

We usually start with the mood board, this is something that the team collectively can look and make sure we are all on the same page when brainstorming ideas and creating artwork. It also allows us to visualize a color pattern we want to use.

Step 2: The design process

This is where all the intense creative work goes down. Bless our graphic design guru’s Laura and Ashton who know all about the typography world and how to make a mood board vision come to life.

Step 3: Finalizing the selection

Together we regroup as a team and go over design pitch ideas. Picking and choosing the designs we love and which ones we with our consumers will love too.

Step 4: Screen print

Next, the artwork is sent off to our master screen printer, Colin. He takes the digital artwork and turns it into wearable art through several screen printing tactics (I’ll save that for another blog post). After everything has been printed it’s ready to be photographed.

Step 5: Smile for the camera

It is photoshoot time! All garments are photographed in a lifestyle photoshoot. We are lucky enough to have an in house photographer, Miss. Maggie who collects the shots and makes us look way cooler than we are.

Step 6: Social + web-ready

After looking through a million images, because believe it or not we don’t get it on the first try or the hundredth try, we select images for our website and social media! This is one of the best parts because we finally get to share the final product with you!
